Rev. Menise Sasa was born in the village of Afono, American
Samoa. His parents, the late Rev. Sasa and Nanavale Panapa, ministered in both American and Western Samoa.
In 1971 he graduated from Samoana High School
in American Samoa. Upon graduation he worked as a night
auditor for the Rainmaker Hotel and an accountant at the Agriculture Department.
He attended Malua Theological
College in Western Samoa
from 1974-l977, graduated with distinction and received a Diploma of Divinity. Later he attended the Pacific Theological College
in Suva, Fiji,
from 1978 - 1980, in which he received a Bachelor of Divinity.
In
November of 1981, Rev. Sasa enlisted in the United States Army as a Chaplains Assistant. In June, 1983, he was accepted into
the Chaplaincy Corps. Rev. Sasa was the first Chaplain in the United States Armed Forces of Samoan ancestry.
In January 1992, he was assigned to Fort Hood.
He was the Chaplain for the 227th MSB. He also took on the sponsorship of the Samoan
Church in Fort Hood. He separated from the U. S. Army in 1993. He was inducted and installed as the
minister for the Fort Hood Church by the Committee of Elders of the Congregational Christian Church of American Samoa in September l993. The congregation mainly serves Samoan active and retired
service members and their families.
Rev. Sasa is married to the former Fa'avaefou Sunia. They live in Copperas Cove, TX.
